True Divas like to Knit!
Knitting is a fab hobby darlink, and I don’t even ruin my nails!
The Diva loves to knit, and especially if it’s for a worthwhile cause, many charities are crying out for knitters or wool donations.
Here are a few of my favourite knitting charities.
Each site has projects for talented and beginner knitters, like me!
Jenny Chant is a breast cancer survivior who is attempting to knit the world’s longest pink scarf to raise awareness of the importance of self-examination and regular mammograms. She is asking you to knit a 2 metre scarf (the pattern is on her website) and she will sew them all together to make a record breaker! When the appeal closes the scarves will be auctioned off to raise funds, the remaining scarves will be either used as scarves or sewn together to make blankets, to warm and comfort those who need them most.
Provide teddies for sick children in mainly Africa, Eastern Europe and Asia. Contact them to find a local collecters for your knitted teddies. They offer their own pattern, as teddies need to be a specific size.
Makes and sends tiny premature clothing and sadly burial outfits to UK Special Baby Care Units, also to parents who need this support.
A volunteer, non-profit organisation based in the UK who support the families dealing with the loss of their baby through miscarriage or stillbirth. You can help their most pressing need for blankets, gowns and wraps in pale pastel colours, beautiful clothes to wrap a tiny baby in.
Angels for hope is a nonprofit organization that offers free crocheted angels for anyone in need of hope. They attach a small card with the angel to say, you are not alone, others do care, and you are in our thoughts and prayers. In addition to crocheted angels, they also offer butterflies and smiley faces.
Organisation who make blankets to give to elderly people in residential homes or who live alone in both the UK and US. You can also nominate someone to recieve a gift online.
Reading about all these charities brought lots of tears, lets hope we can give some smiles. Tell me all about your creations, and I tell you about mine!
If you’re a knitting charity or from a knitting group let me know and we can feature your good work!
Happy knitting
Love, the Diva x
