Black Cohosh FlowerBlack Cohosh is probably the biggest selling herbal treatment for women and is registered as a medicine in Germany.

It contains phyto-oestrogenic chemicals that help to alleviate the symptoms of PMS and the menopause such as fatigue, irritability, lower sex drive, flushes/flashes and vaginal dryness. It is a fantastic herb to use as an alternative to HRT or to replace HRT if you decide to come off it.  It combines well with Damask Rose, Dong Quai, Red Clover, and Wild Yam.

Do not take if pregnant or breast feeding.

Do not use if taking any drugs that affect the female hormonal system such as the pill, HRT, and Tamoxifen.

Do not use if you suffer or have suffered from a hormone dependent cancer such as breast, womb or ovarian cancer.

Seek advice from a medical herbalist, or health care practitioner if you wish to convert from HRT to herbal alternatives.
