Diagnosis
If you think or suspect you maybe suffering from endometriosis, your doctor should be your first point of call they will examine you, and guide you in the right direction to establish what is going on.
Your doctor might advise a laparoscopy. A Laparoscopy allows your doctor or gynaecologist to look directly inside your abdomen, and is the best way to determine, if you have endometriosis. This needs to be done in hospital using a laparoscope: a thin tube that is inserted through a small cut in the skin just below the belly button (navel).
The examination is carried out under general anaesthesia, the examination takes about 30 minutes and you usually won’t need to stay overnight in hospital.
